Гроші мають кілька функцій й однією з них є міра вартості. В якості цієї міри тривалий використовували золото, аж до 1971 року. І ось вже понад півстоліття світ живе без прив'язки грошових знаків до стабільної міри й ми добре бачимо й відчуваємо наслідки на власних гаманцях. Нестабільність вартості валюти веде до серйозних соціальних проблем, нерівномірного розподілу матеріальних благ, безробіття тощо. Здається, нам доведеться повертатися до системи прив'язки, але чи буде це золото в нашому цифровому світі. Цікаво, якою була б фінансова система, якби мірою вартості долара й інших фіатних грошей був Біткоїн.

Майкл Сейлор, директор компанії MicroStrategy, пропонує використовувати Біткоїн в Мінфіні США. По-перше, це зможе захистити долар від знецінення й забезпечити його стабільність. По-друге, такий крок забезпечить децентралізацію та фінансову свободу, що є одним з пріоритетів для американського суспільства. Цікава пропозиція, але при цьому необхідно розуміти, що міра вартості долара має бути стабільною.
